Many people faced with the problem of wrinkles join the search for the best wrinkle treatment each day. Growing numbers ofhealth and beauty conscious men and women are looking for the right treatment to help reduce and remove their wrinkles that are brought on by aging, stress and dry skin. They often have a hard time choosing from the many hundreds of available treatments for wrinkles, from creams to oils to injections.

Of the many anti-wrinkle treatments that are available commercially, many are formulated using a combination of natural ingredients and synthetic substances. These treatments are often viewed as being unnatural as they contain artificial ingredients and some people are unwilling to use such treatments. They prefer to use natural treatments instead. One of these natural treatments that is worth considering is the use of castor oil as an anti-wrinkle treatment.

Castor oil, which is produced from the seed of the castor plant, is usually taken as a health supplement. However, many people do not realize that it can be an effective form of wrinkle treatment as well. By simply applying castor oil to your skin, you help to soothe your skin, restoring its natural youthful appearance and helping to diminish unsightly wrinkles.

One of the properties of castor oil that makes it an effective form of anti-wrinkle treatment is that it is very effective at moisturizing your skin. Castor oil has many antioxidant properties and helps defend your skin against oxidizing agents. It also cleanses and heals your skin even as it hydrates your skin. Also, castor oil does not leave an oily feeling on your skin after you use it. Simply wash it off with some warm water or even some gentle facial cleanser and it will leave your skin feeling smooth and supple. People with dry skin will benefit greatly from the application of castor oil to areas of the skin affected by wrinkles.

Castor oil also helps increase the flow of blood to the skin that it is applied to. Increased blood flow means that the skin receives more nutrients and oxygen, making skin healthier and fuller, helping to erase wrinkles and fine lines. Even heavy wrinkles respond well to the increased circulation of blood and lessen or fade.

Many people who use castor oil on their skin on a regular basis report that the treatment leaves them feeling younger and their skin looking healthier. Castor oil also has a positive effect on wrinkles and fine lines, reducing the severity of wrinkling and also giving skin a natural healthy glow. While it must be said that no treatment available today can completely eliminate wrinkles, regular treatment with castor oil will help to keep wrinkles at bay, and to help reduce the formation of wrinkles, keeping you looking younger, longer.

THE USE OF CASTOR OIL FOR AYURVEDIC HOME REMEDIES

One forgotten use of castor oil is its application on sprained areas followed by hot water fomentation. This quickly heals sprains.

Castor oil and turmeric powder is mixed thoroughly to form a paste which is applied on cracked heels or foot fissures. This is done before going to bed.

In case of choked throat one simple remedy is to prepare a paste of castor oil and slaked lime and apply a thin layer externally on the throat area before going to bed. This quickly clears choked throat.

In case of gas in stomach a take a glass of milk after adding a teaspoon of castor oil to it. Another alternative is to chew and gulp down a spoonful of cumin seeds followed by intake of a mixture of 20 drops of lemon juice, 20 drops of ginger juice and 8 drops of honey. This is another time tested remedy for gas.

6 Ways to Use Castor Oil

6 Ways to Use Castor Oil

The high vitamin-E content of that awful-tasting thick oil can work wonders on brittle nails and ragged cuticles. And you don’t have to swallow the stuff. Just massage a small amount on your cuticles and nails each day and within three months you will have supple cuticles and healthy nails.

Soothe tired eyesBefore going to bed, rub odorless castor oil all around your eyes. Rub some on your eyelashes, too, to keep them shiny. Be careful not to get the oil in your eyes.

Lubricate kitchen scissorsUse castor oil instead of toxic petroleum oil to lubricate kitchen scissors and other utensils that touch food.

Repel molesIf moles are destroying your garden and yard, try using castor oil to get rid of them. Mix 1/2 cup castor oil and 2 gallons (7.5 liters) water and drench the molehill with it. It won’t kill them, but it will get them out looking for another neighborhood to dig up.

Perk up ailing fern, give your sickly ferns a tonic made by mixing 1 tablespoon castor oil and 1 tablespoon baby shampoo with 4 cups lukewarm water. Give the fern about 3 tablespoons of the tonic, then follow with plain water. Your plants should be perky by the time you use up your supply of tonic.

Condition your hair
For healthy, shiny hair, mix 2 teaspoons castor oil with 1 teaspoon glycerin and one egg white. Massage it into your e it into your wet hair, wait several minutes, and wash out.

WHAT IS COLD PRESSED CASTOR OIL??

WHAT IS COLD PRESSED??
Cold pressed oil may be healthier than conventionally made oil because of the lack of heat and chemicals in the production process. In conventional extraction, raw materials are heated to very high temperatures, sometimes up to 450°F (around 230°C), which changes their chemical structure. They are also often made with chemicals like hexane, a solvent which can cause health problems.

Castor Oil for cyst

Credits to : ms promenade, acne.org community

This is my very first post. I've read this website for a year but never felt the need to post any thing until now. I was in your same position recently; I had a painless flattened lump in my neck that would not go away.

The lump started its life about 3 months ago as a regular pimple that never healed, and after touching it too much, turned into an inflamed red lump.

I left it alone and tried drawing salves and hot compresses to bring it to a head, but nothing really worked. After the inflammation went away, I was left with a pocket of puss deep in my skin about the shape and size of a small marble. I believe it was a sebaceous cyst, and from what I've heard they usually do need to be surgically removed.

Anyway, if you research sebaceous cysts you'll eventually come upon castor oil as a possible treatment. As I said, I've used drawing salve (prid's drawing salve with Ichthammol, epsom salt salve) with some success, (some puss drained but it seemed to fill up again the next day) but not much. Hot compresses work for the short term, but the results never lasted.

So as a last resort before going the surgical route, yesterday I got some castor oil from Whole Foods (about 9 bucks for a huge bottle), applied some throughout the day, and lo and behold, last night I barely touched it and a bit of puss, watery stuff, and blood came out. The entire cyst didn't drain as there was still a lump of white stuff. So I cleaned it and applied some more castor oil and went to sleep. This morning it is almost gone! There is no lump, the skin is soft and less discolored, and I can't see any white stuff below when I press down on the skin.Apparently castor oil has lots of healing properties and is very good for the skin.

There are discussions on this site and all over the internet devoted to it. I applied just a little bit to my cyst; apparently you are supposed to apply some to a square of flannel and keep it on overnight. However, just a small amount worked for me, so I can imagine a compress soaked in it will work even better. Please check it out! I hope it works for you.

And people, if you try it and find that it works, please spread the word so that others can avoid unnecessary surgeries. Apparently you need to get cold pressed castor oil, which is only available at a health food store. You can get castor oil at walmart, but not the cold pressed variety. I'm not sure there is a difference, frankly. But as I said, I bottle of the stuff at Whole Foods for 9 bucks is a lot cheaper than $400 + to get it surgically removed. Best of luck to you all!

Everyday Health Benefits of Castor Oil

What Are the Everyday Health Benefits of Castor Oil?

This oil from castor bean seeds is applied to many health problems that you often encounter on a daily basis, such as:

Constipation – As an alternative remedy, castor oil is a very effective laxative. It provides temporary relief to diarrhea and constipation.

Ringworm – Undecylenic acid, which is one of the active compounds of castor oil, helps fight ringworm, a fungal infection.

Skin Problems – Castor oil contains ricinoleic acid, which delivers anti-inflammatory benefits to the skin. It provides treatment for minor cuts, burns, abrasions, sunburn and prevents skin disorders such as acne and eczema.

Aside from these, one of the benefits of castor oil is in skin conditioning. It serves as a natural emollient, which stimulates the production of collagen and elastin that hydrates and moisturizes the skin.

It treats wrinkles, repairing and rejuvenating the skin to make it look flawless and smoother. When applied regularly, castor oil also helps diminish dark circles under your eyes.

Aside from these, natural castor oil also treats yeast infections, gastrointestinal problems, migraines, menstrual disorder, and athlete’s foot.

Castor Oil Supports Treatment of Major Health Problems
Castor oil is a remedy for more serious health conditions, which include:

Labor Induction – Castor oil is used to induce labor in pregnant women. Note to seek consultation with your doctor first before ingesting the oil as it may bring potential side effects to the mother and to the baby.

Sciatic Nerve Pain – The oil relieves sciatia, a painful condition characterized by lower back pains and soreness in your lower limbs.

Lymph Problems – Another medical benefit of the oil is in lymph treatment. Castor oil stimulates the activity of the lymph system, which is responsible for eliminating the body’s metabolic wastes.
Tumors – By placing a castor oil pack (a piece of flannel soaked in castor oil) over a tumor, it can help reduce the appearance of tumors in your body.

In addition, castor oil is also believed to deliver medical benefits to certain neurological problems, such as Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis and cerebral palsy.

With the many health benefits of castor oil, it is no wonder why it is one of the most beneficial oils that are available for us to use. Castor oil is truly a valuable, organic remedy that can help improve your body’s physical fitness, vigor and overall wellness.

Castor oil best kept secrets

Castor oil is one of the best kept secrets in the world

of natural health.

Taken from the bean of the castor plant, this oil is rich in ricinoleic acid, which exerts powerful therapeutic effects.Historically, castor oil was taken as an oral laxative.

Today, however, taking castor oil this way it is not recommended because its powerful laxative effect can disrupt normal digestion and healthy intestinal flora.

When it comes to treating chronic conditions, sometimes it is more effective to treat our bodies gently. Castor oil best exerts its powerful effects when applied topically, directly to the skin. It proves to be a simple, cheap and effective remedy for a variety of common health complaints.

1. Skin health. Castor oil has a low molecular weight, which means it is absorbed readily into skin and hair, providing nourishment and moisturizing effects. When applied to the ends of dry hair, it moisturizes and prevents split ends.

It has been used for years as a face cream to reduce the risk of dark under-eye circles and to aid in the prevention and treatment of wrinkles. Castor oil is commonly added to natural lip balms and glosses to add shine and moisture to dry lips and it’s also frequently added to natural mascaras to encourage lash growth.

2. Antimicrobial. Ricinoleic acid contains antimicrobial properties, which, when applied to open wounds, can act as a disinfectant. It is effective for treating fungal skin infections, such as ringworm, as well as minor cuts and scratches. An added bonus to using castor oil as a first aid treatment are its anti-itch and pain-relieving properties, which help ease symptoms as minor skin infections heal.

3. Decreasing stagnation. Because of its low molecular weight, when applied to the skin, castor oil has the ability to not only penetrate the skin, but to reach the deeper organs of the body.

According to Ayurveda, the ancient Indian healing art, castor oil has the ability to warm the body, which can decrease the stagnation of excess bodily fluids and lymph. This stagnation can cause blockages in the body's tissues, leading to water retention and weight gain.

In Ayurvedic medicine, it is common to apply a mixture of castor oil and powdered turmeric to masses and lumps found under the skin in order to dissolve them. It is an excellent oil to use in full-body self-massage for people of Kapha constitution, whose bodies typically accumulate fluids...

Apply castor oil directly to deep cystic acne to help decrease inflammation, kill bacteria and help dissolve the masses overnight.

Apply to tight, sore muscles, like the upper traps or low back, especially directly to muscle knots, for an anti-inflammatory, analgesic effect and to aid muscle relaxation.

The Hidden Health Benefits of Castor Oil

The Hidden Health Benefits of Castor Oil

credits to:

One of the most effective health recommendations made by naturopaths is the daily use of castor oil packs. It’s also one of the most mysterious and least well known.
As with many beneficial remedies in naturopathic medicine, there’s not a ton of scientific research surrounding this practice. Its effectiveness is mostly anecdotal and passed down due to repeated clinical success. I would venture to say that the reason for this is that not much money would be made on using castor oil…and that using it takes a little half hour out of your day, which most people insist they don’t have.  But all joking aside, castor oil has been used for thousands of years for a variety of different conditions. It can be taken internally (as a laxative) but here, I will be discussing a much less disagreeable and much more gentle use of the oil.
First, a little tidbit on castor oil…(it’s important to know what you put on and in your body!)
Castor oil comes from the castor seed, Ricinus communis, (a plant native to India) and is composed mostly of the fatty acid, ricinoleic acid. Archaeological findings show that this oil was regularly used medically in India, Egypt, China, Persia, Africa and Greece for over 4000 years. In fact, its properties were so effective that it was once referred to as “Palma Christe” because the leaves were said to resemble the hand of Christ.
Ricinoleic acid is what is thought to be responsible for castor oil’s unique healing properties. It diffuses through the skin and into the organs and vessels where it acts as a mild irritant. Mild irritation can be good for the body—it can stimulate movement of fluids, recruit immune cells, and encourage peristalsis (the intestinal contractions that aid in removing waste), among other physiological processes.
A study published in the Journal of Naturopathic Medicine in 1997 found that daily use of castor oil packs canincrease the production of T-lymphocytes, an important player in your immune system.castor oil packs
As with anything so miraculously amazing, there is another side to the seed, which is in the form of a potent toxin called ricin. If inhaled or ingested, ricin can immediately kill—in fact, it was used as a compound in chemical warfare. However, according to the International Journal of Toxicology, you won’t have to worry about finding any trace of ricin in the castor oil that is sold to the general public and the Joint Food and Agriculture Organization(FAO)/World Health Organization (WHO) Expert Committee on Food Additives deem it safe.
Naturopathically, castor oil is used to decrease inflammation and to help the liver to function optimally. It increases circulation of blood and lymph, enhances the immune system, improves elimination of toxic substances, and promotes the healing of tissues. Due to these effects, it can be used to decrease pain, improve digestion, and help in the treatment of many conditions including uterine fibroids, non-malignant ovarian cysts, headaches, migraines, constipation, intestinal disorders, and gallbladder and liver conditions.
If you’re ready to start feeling some of its benefits, pick up some castor oil packs in any drug or grocery store and follow these simple steps:
  1. Take a clean flannel cloth folded into 2-3 layers and large enough to cover your entire abdomen.
  2. Drizzle 2-3 TBSP of castor oil onto one face of the cloth.
  3.  Place the oily side down on your stomach, add a little heat (via a heating pad, a hot water bottle, your own arms, a warm blanket) and lie still for 30-45 minutes.  You can incorporate this into your evening routine.  If you regularly check email every night, do your castor oil pack while you sit at your computer.  Or do it while you read or talk to your spouse or watch a movie.
  4. After the allotted time, place your pack into a plastic bag and set it aside until tomorrow.
The following days:
  1. Add a TBSP or so of additional castor oil to the same side of the same cloth you used the previous day.  Do this for the next 4-5 days.  Until the cloth is “saturated” enough that it leaves a SLIGHT film of oil on your belly when you remove it.
  2. Once this level of saturation is reached, you only need to add oil once every 5-7 days.
And visit my site to read up on the most common Castor Oil pack mistakes as well as more suggestions for using them!

Castor Oil Uses

Castor Oil Uses For More Than Just Your Immune System

Danica Collins

Did you know…that castor oil, the time-revered folk remedy, has been shown to shrink cysts and tumors…

curb alcoholism…alleviate arthritis…treat moles, warts and skin cancer…and even grow hair?

Derived from castor beans (which aren’t really beans at all but seeds from a tropical-looking, leafy plant), castor oil is an age-oldremedy that has been in and out of the spotlight for thousands of years.

The first recorded castor oil uses dates back to the Ancient Egyptians, who used castor oil to promote long, lustrous locks, and to treat eye and skin irritations.
Castor oil enjoyed a surge of popularity in medieval times, when Europeans used it as a topical skin lubricant to treat skin infections.

Castor oil uses made its way back into the spotlight in the 20th century, when the “father of holistic medicine,” Edgar Cayce, claimed that it helped restore lymphatic tissue in the small intestines, thereby boosting absorption of fatty acids and promoting tissue growth and repair.

The versatile nature of castor oil uses is fully exploited in the 21st century. Castor oil is a popular ingredient used in cosmetics, printing ink, plastics, car and jet engine lubricants, anti-fungal treatments and modern drugs.

Conventional medicine recommends castor oil as a laxative and an eye drop. Oncologists take castor oil uses and transport chemotherapy drugs to cancerous tumors, and obstetricians often use it to induce labor.

It has amassed quite the credentials over the years, but castor oil uses are mostly used as a…Laxative to relieve constipation and stimulate healthy digestionn, pain reliever for achy muscles and arthritic joints

Anti-inflammatory agent

Remedy for abdominal discomfort

Cure for skin disorders, such as ringworm, athlete’s foot and eczema

Blemish buster

Ointment for open wounds

Conditioning treatment for hair and skin

While castor oil can be applied topically or ingested—the World Health Organization (WHO) maintains that 1 tablespoon for adults and 1 teaspoon for kids is safe to take every day.

Castor oil are helpful to prevent wrinkles

Castor Oil to prevent wrinkle

Castor oil is especially helpful to prevent wrinkles when applied regularly.

Castor oil is a good option because it has no odor so you can leave it on yourskin as you go on about your business.
While castor oil doesn't leave a greasy feeling on your skin, it still might not be a good option if you have greasy skin.

Step 1

Choose cold-pressed castor oil, available at health food stores and vitamin shops. This type of oil is more finely processed, so it won't clog your pores.

Step 2

Apply a light coat of castor oil under your eyes and on your forehead, where wrinkles might be more prominent. Castor oil can also be used on neck wrinkles.

Step 3

Massage the oil into your skin until it's completely absorbed. You don't need to rub too hard or apply too much pressure. Rub lightly or pat to avoid stretching your skin.

Step 4

Apply before bedtime so your skin has time overnight to absorb the oil. Wash your face in the morning using warm water

CASTOR OIL - FOR HAIR

By Eshe Asale

Castor oil contains vitamin E, minerals, proteins, antibacterial and anti-fungicidal properties. Scientists attribute its healing benefits to its unusual chemical composition, which consists of a triglyceride of fatty acids with ricinoleic acid of up to 90 percent. In addition to healing benefits, castor oil also contains anti-inflammatory properties, all of which are related to healthy hair growth.

Here are 7 ways to incorporate castor oil into a healthy hair regimen.

1. Added Shine

According to researchers studying the light reflected from hair samples, castor oilhair treatments were found to increase the luster of hair.

This effect is caused bycastor oil‘s ability to coat the hair shaft, sealing in moisture and creating a silkier surface. Dull hair may benefit from the use of castor oil hair treatments, either in conditioners or in the form of a hot oil treatment.

For optimum shine, use a hot oil treatment once per month or moisturizing treatments weekly. However, more frequent use than this can result in an oily scalp.

2. Improve Scalp Circulation

Castor oil on your scalp can help to increase circulation. The strengthening effect it has on hair follicles can stimulate hair growth in cases of alopecia, or hair loss.

3. Prevent Hair Loss

The antifungal and antibacterial properties in castor oil are useful in combating scalp infections, such as follliculitus, ringworm and peidra. Infections and scalp disorders are major causes of hair loss. Pathogens and micro-organisms such as viruses, bacteria, fungus and parasites can attack your skin and scalp, leading to bald patches and impeding hair growth.

4. Control Split Ends

Castor oil as a conditioning treatment can help reduce split ends, which in turn prevents hair loss and breakage. Omega 6 essential fatty acids, vitamin E, proteins and other nutrients in castor oil can penetrate dry and damaged hair, smoothing rough cuticles and helping the hair shaft retain moisture. Castor oil has a viscous consistency, so mixing it with lighter oils — such as olive and jojoba — makes it easier to evenly and sufficiently distribute it throughout your hair.

5. Sealing

Castor oil is a popular ingredient in hair products formulated for highly textured hair because it is known for its ability to seal moisture in the hair, combatting the natural dryness of these hair types. Apply it after moisturizing with a water-based product for a long-lasting seal.

6. Treatment of Dry Scalp or Dandruff

Castor oil contains fungicidal, germicidal and insecticidal properties, making it an effective treatment for many causes of dandruff. In addition, castor oil hair treatments seal in moisture when applied to either the hair or the scalp, making it an excellent scalp moisturizer. If you have dry scalp or dandruff, apply castor oil directly to dry areas prior to washing or shampooing the hair.

7. Moisturizing Scalp & Thickening Hair

Omega 6 fatty acids in castor oil help keep your scalp from drying out, while regular use of castor oil may encourage thicker hair growth. Unrefined castor oil is preferred over refined types, because it contains more nutrients and healing properties.

Use castor oil for hot oil treatments and scalp massages to stimulate hair growth and keep your hair soft and manageable. Leave the oil in your hair overnight, covered with a plastic cap to trap heat and enhance penetration. In the morning, wash your hair thoroughly with shampoo to remove all traces of castor oil, then style as usual.
