Reduce the size of nasal polyps with castor oil

Nasal polyps are soft growths, usually benign that occur in the inner linings of the nasal cavities. The growth cause the inflammation of the sinuses and hence the nasal polyps. The polyps are so soft that they are almost jelly like. They are off white in color and cause breathing difficulties. A running nose and other olfactory problems are common symptoms of nasal polyps. Usually nasal polyps are misdiagnosed as nasal or sinus infections and allergies.
If the polyps are small and fine, they are unlikely to cause any trouble. However, the larger polyps cause rhinitis which is severely allergic and may also cause migraines. There is also loud snoring accompanied with several changes in the facial structure.
Though nasal polyps can afflict anyone, they are commonly observed in people over forty years of age or asthmatics. Also people who are allergic to hay fall easy prey to nasal polyps. The disorder is also commonly observed in people who are prone to sinus infections and cystic fibrosis. The larger nasal polyps are not easily treatable and have a tendency to re-occur. They tend to block the respiratory passage and create difficulties in breathing. Therefore the only long term solution is surgery. The smaller polyps however, can be treated with medications and even several home remedies.
Nasal polyps generally occur in the sinus cavities near the nose and are usually stemmed out of allergies. It so happens that the blood vessels present in the lining of the nasal cavities are rather permeable. Sometimes therefore, there could be an accumulation of water in the cavities and the stagnant water leads to the formation of nasal polyps.
If you are an asthmatic suffering from nasal polyps, it is best that you avoid the use of medicines with aspirin. Aspirin could aggravate your asthma by causing shortness of breath. Though it is difficult to do so, try to avoid pollution as much as you can. Outside irritants and allergens are the main cause of occurrence of polyps.
To reduce the size of nasal polyps, take a teaspoon of castor oil everyday. Castor oil warms up the nasal cavity and helps reduce the size of the polyps. You can also daub castor oil on your stomach using a warm wet towel, on your stomach.
Mix one fourth of a teaspoon of citric acid with the same amount of baking soda and swallow it with warm water two to three times a day. This helps in increasing the alkalinity of the body and increases the oxygen intake.
Zinc and selenium supplements have also proven to help in shrinking the nasal polyps.

Castor Oil Relieve Joint Pain

How to Use Castor Oil for Joint Pain

Joint pain is triggered due to several reasons like improper postures or movements causing the muscles of a joint to be stressed or strained and even due to arthritis, in case of senior citizens. Not only can this be a bothersome issue, it can also cause a hindrance in the daily activities. To curb the pain, the use of castor oil, as pack or poultices is recommended. The idea of external application of castor oil, in the form of packs, was promoted by Edgar Cayce. An alleged psychic and holistic medicine practitioner, who founded the Association for Research and Enlightenment (A.R.E.) in 1931, Cayce recommended the use of castor oil to relieve pain and aches. Castor oil (after warming) can be used in the form of a pack or as an infusion, which can be applied on the painful region. Here is how to make a castor oil poultice and use it.
For preparing the oil pack, first you will have to heat the castor oil. Take four to five tablespoons (or as per your requirement) of castor oil and warm it.
Once the oil has warmed, soak a piece of flannel or woolen cloth in it. The thicker the cloth, the better it is. Allow the cloth to remain in oil, till it is completely soaked.
Place the cloth on the affected joint and secure it with a plastic wrap. Apply a heating pad to the oil pack, for even distribution of heat to the joint.
The warmth of the oil and cloth will relax the muscles and alleviate the pain. Repeat this process for about an hour, two or three times, till you find relief. You can also use this method to cure aches in any other part of the body.
Therapeutic Properties of Castor Oil

Warm castor oil, when rubbed on the affected regions, is known to relax the muscles and ease the pain. An infusion of castor oil with camphor, garlic, whole peppercorns and any other spice, if applied on the aching joints can heal the pain. Rubbing the oil in circular motion, on the sore joints generates heat. This in turn improves blood circulation in the sore joint and triggers the lymphatic system to reduce inflammation and pain, thereby relaxing the muscles. This oil is also an excellent remedy when it comes to treating disorders like arthritis, rheumatism and osteoporosis. However, do not rub castor oil if the skin is broken or cracked, since it can cause inflammation and burning sensation.

Due to its many, wonderful benefits, castor oil has been advocated by many doctors around the world to be used as a pain reliever. Castor oil, when used in moderation, with its medicinal properties can treat and relieve joint pain and other maladies. Keeping these beneficial uses in mind, castor oil has aptly been named as, "The oil that heals."

This is my very first post. I've read this website for a year but never felt the need to post any thing until now. I was in your same position recently; I had a painless flattened lump in my neck that would not go away. The lump started its life about 3 months ago as a regular pimple that never healed, and after touching it too much, turned into an inflamed red lump. I left it alone and tried drawing salves and hot compresses to bring it to a head, but nothing really worked. After the inflammation went away, I was left with a pocket of puss deep in my skin about the shape and size of a small marble. I believe it was a sebaceous cyst, and from what I've heard they usually do need to be surgically removed.

Anyway, if you research sebaceous cysts you'll eventually come upon castor oil as a possible treatment. As I said, I've used drawing salve (prid's drawing salve with Ichthammol, epsom salt salve) with some success, (some puss drained but it seemed to fill up again the next day) but not much. Hot compresses work for the short term, but the results never lasted. So as a last resort before going the surgical route, yesterday I got some castor oil from Whole Foods (about 9 bucks for a huge bottle), applied some throughout the day, and lo and behold, last night I barely touched it and a bit of puss, watery stuff, and blood came out. The entire cyst didn't drain as there was still a lump of white stuff. So I cleaned it and applied some more castor oil and went to sleep. This morning it is almost gone! There is no lump, the skin is soft and less discolored, and I can't see any white stuff below when I press down on the skin.

Apparently castor oil has lots of healing properties and is very good for the skin. There are discussions on this site and all over the internet devoted to it. I applied just a little bit to my cyst; apparently you are supposed to apply some to a square of flannel and keep it on overnight. However, just a small amount worked for me, so I can imagine a compress soaked in it will work even better. Please check it out! I hope it works for you. And people, if you try it and find that it works, please spread the word so that others can avoid unnecessary surgeries.

Apparently you need to get cold pressed castor oil, which is only available at a health food store. You can get castor oil at walmart, but not the cold pressed variety. I'm not sure there is a difference, frankly. But as I said, I huge bottle of the stuff at Whole Foods for 9 bucks is a lot cheaper than $400 + to get it surgically removed.

Best of luck to you all!

I owe mspromenade a huge "THANK YOU!" I've been applying castor oil to a cyst on my cheek which has been plaguing me for about year. I am absolutely baffled by the result! This is the first treatment that has actually worked.

If you have a sebaceous cyst, give castor oil a-go for a week or so.

Thanks again mspromenade.

Hi boys I have had a sebaceous cyst on my cheeck for 2 weeks, and it didn't want to go away. I've tried antibiotic cream, cortisone, and something else. Now it's 4 days I'm putting castor oil on the cyst, and it's working! The cyst is disappearing. The best is to have castor oil applied 24 hours a day, covered with a plaster, in any case wear it as many time as you can (also when you're sleeping). In a week it's all gone.
Bye

Age Spots (liver spots)

Castor Oil will remove age spots (liver spots)

Rub castor oil into your age spots every night. The age spot will lighten over time, and continued use will eventually remove the age spot completely.

Castor oil for hair

Rubbing castor oil on your scalp and the roots of your hair will regenerate new hair growth within months. This will also thicken thinning hair.

For a deep healing treatment, rub castor oil into your scalp and leave it on overnight. You can wrap your hair up in a towel or a shower cap to keep the oil on your scalp and away from your bed linen (castor oil stains are almost impossible to remove).
For a lighter treatment during the day, rub a very small amount of castor oil into your scalp or hair (whichever you feel needs help). Castor oil is very thick and viscous, so a little goes a long way. You can either wash this off at the end of every day, or leave it in if you feel comfortable (to maintain your regular schedule of hair washing, whatever that may be).
However, if you have fine or weak/brittle hair, it’s a good idea to mix castor oil with a lighter oil so that it’ll be easier to wash out later (baking soda will also help remove castor oil, but it can be temporarily drying).
Some have reported good results from mixing castor oil with coconut oil or olive oil. Coconut oil is especially good for restoring damaged and weak hair because of it’s high nutrient content.

What is Castor Oil....Clinical application of castor oil...

Credits to : http://www.annieappleseedproject.org

The Palma Christi

Castor oil is extracted from the seed of the castor oil plant, whose botanical name is ricinus communis. While it was Cayce who brought castor oil packs to fame in the 20th century, the oil has a long and varied history of use as a healing agent in folk medicine around the world. According to a research report in a recent issue of the Journal of Naturopathic Medicine, castor bean seeds, believed to be 4,000 years old, have been found in Egyptian tombs, and historical records reveal the medicinal use of castor oil in Egypt (for eye irritations), India, China (for induction of childbirth and expulsion of the placenta), Persia (for epilepsy), Africa, Greece, Rome, Southern Europe, and the Americas. In ancient Rome, the castor oil plant was known as Palma Christi, which translates into hand of Christ. This name is still sometimes used today.

A book about the Vermont style of folk medicine by D.C. Jarvis published in 1958 lists numerous conditions which respond well to the topical application of castor oil, including irritation of the conjunctiva of the eye; to promote healing of the umbilicus in a newborn; and to increase milk flow in lactating women when applied to the breasts. As a nursing mom, I can attest to the effectiveness of castor oil applied to sore, irritated, or inflamed nipples. It works faster than any commercial salve, and I don't have to worry about washing it off before the next nursing. Any trace of the oil that my son may get in his mouth is definitely not going to harm him!

Ann's NOTE: A visitor suggests that castor oil can in fact be poisonous. One ingredient, 'ricin'is a recognized toxin. Another is 'RCA. See information below. We suggest WASHING it OFF. One suggestion is to use baking soda. (Then water).

No one could claim more experience with the clinical application of castor oil than Dr. William A. McGarey, Chairman of the Board of the A.R.E. Clinic in Phoenix, Arizona. In the course of his medical career spanning over several decades, Dr. McGarey has published numerous articles and books covering treatments with various Cayce remedies.

In his recently revised and updated book about castor oil, entitled The Oil That Heals, Dr. McGarey recounts being told a story in 1965 by a man who, some years earlier, had travelled to a Virginia mountain town to visit his sister. This man "had developed an intensely inflamed finger." writes Dr. McGarey. "A local physician advised him to go to a larger city to have a surgeon work on it. He was about to leave at once, for the finger was very painful, when his sister influenced him to show the finger to 'Aunt Minnie', who lived up the hills and who was a midwife. As soon as she saw it, she told him to wrap a flannel cloth soaked in castor oil around the finger and leave it there.

He followed her advice and direction, and by morning most of the inflammation and all of the soreness were gone. By the morning of the second day, all the swelling and inflammation had gone, and a grain of sand (acquired while he was bathing on the seashore one week earlier) was discovered under the edge of the fingernail. This came out with the castor oil bandage, and the finger was healed."

Dr. McGarey has successfully used the castor oil packs in a clinical setting for numerous conditions, including liver and gall bladder disturbances, abscesses, headaches, appendicitis, epilepsy, hemorrhoids, constipation, intestinal obstructions, hyperactivity in children, and to avert threatened abortions in pregnant women.

In The Oil That Heals, Dr. McGarey says that Edgar Cayce described at least thirty different physiological functions that could be changed for the better through the use of castor oil applied topically, mostly by the use of the packs.

Help for Women's Problems

In The Edgar Cayce Handbook for Health through Drugless Therapy, the late Dr. Harold J. Reilly, who worked with the information provided in the Cayce readings for forty-five years, recalls the case of a woman who had been suffering from excessive bleeding of the uterus for thirteen years.

By the time she came to see Dr. Reilly, her problem was threatening to disrupt her career as an opera singer, as well as her ability to function normally in her personal life as a wife and mother. Four leading gynecologists whom she had consulted had all recommended some kind of surgery, from a simple D&C to a total hysterectomy. Dr. Reilly put her on a regimen that began with colonic irrigations and castor oil packs four nights on, three nights off.

The woman later reported that "after the first two nights of the castor oil packs ... the spotting stopped, and this was remarkable, because it was just after my menstrual period, and usually that went on and on. By the end of the week, I sang in a concert and felt fine."

In her popular book Take Charge of Your Body, Canadian physician Dr. Carolyn DeMarco recommends the application of castor oil packs at night for the relief of pain and swelling associated with varicose veins. And in a 1994 article in Health Naturally magazine, Dr. DeMarco writes about the recommendation of American gynecologist Dr. Christine Northrup to apply castor oil packs to the lumpy, painful breasts of women who suffer from cystic breast disease.

Susun Weed, author of the book Wise Woman Herbal for the Childbearing Year, says that in traditional midwifery, castor oil is used internally and externally to stimulate the uterus, soften the cervix, and help initiate labour. She suggests rubbing castor oil on the belly and covering with a warm towel if the cervix is ripe and labour seems near. Some midwives rub castor oil on the feet to help labour along.

How Castor Oil Works on the Body

A country doctor whom Dr. McGarey quotes in The Oil That Heals, once said: "Castor oil will leave the body in better condition than it found it." But the physiological workings of castor oil's interaction with the body remain somewhat elusive.

Dr. McGarey says: "We still have no explanation why ..... a pack using this oil will help restore normalcy to a hyperactive child, or speed up the healing of hepatitis, or help to get rid of gallstones, or even help heal abrasions and infections. Perhaps [the explanation] is to be found in the nature of the human body and the secret capabilities of the substances God gave us here on the earth for our use and benefit."

Dr. McGarey is very humble in his statement, for he does present a plausible hypothesis relating to Edgar Cayce's suggestion that castor oil packs can strengthen the Peyer's Patches, which are tiny patches of lymphatic tissue in the mucosal surface of the small intestine.

According to Cayce, the Peyer's Patches produce a substance which facilitates electrical contact between the autonomous and the cerebrospinal nervous system when it reaches those areas via the bloodstream. Dr. McGarey thus understands Cayce to say that the health of the entire nervous system is, to an extent, maintained through the substance produced by the Peyer's Patches when they are in good health. Although the Peyer's Patches were discovered in 1677, it is only recently that medical science has begun to recognize them as constituents of the body's immune system.

Current research appears to confirm Dr. McGarey's theory. A double-blind study, described by Harvey Grady in a report entitled Immunomodulation through Castor Oil Packs published in a recent issue of the Journal of Naturopathic Medicine, examined lymphocyte values of 36 healthy subjects before and after topical castor oil application.

This study identified castor oil as an anti-toxin, and as having impact on the lymphatic system, enhancing immunological function. The study found that castor oil pack therapy of a minimal two-hour duration produced an increase in the number of T-11 cells within a 24-hour period following treatment, with a concomitant increase in the number of total lymphocytes.

This T-11 cell increase represents a general boost in the body's specific defense status, since lymphocytes actively defend the health of the body by forming antibodies against pathogens and their toxins. T-cells identify and kill viruses, fungi, bacteria, and cancer cells.

Castor oil packs are a simple home therapy which often produces astounding results. When we consider the Cayce statement quoted in Dr. McGarey's book, "There's as much of God in a teaspoonful of castor oil as there is in a prayer!", we may begin to appreciate the powerful healing potential of the "Palma Christi".

Castor Oil Pack Instructions

(excerpted from The Oil That Heals by William A. McGarey, M.D.)

Prepare a flannel cloth which is two or three thicknesses when folded and which measures about eight inches in width and ten to twelve inches in length after it is folded. This is the size needed for abdominal application - other areas may need a different size pack, as seems applicable. Pour castor oil into a pan and soak the cloth in the oil.

Wring out the cloth so that it is wet but not drippy with the castor oil (or simply pour castor oil onto the pack so it is soaked). Apply the cloth to the area which needs treatment. Most often, the pack should be placed so it covers the area of the liver.

Protection against soiling bed clothing can be made by putting a sheet underneath the body. Then a plastic covering should be applied over the soaked flannel cloth. On top of the plastic, place a heating pad and turn it up to "medium" to begin, then to "high" if the body tolerates it. It helps to wrap a large towel around the body to hold the pack snugly in place, using large safety pins on the towel. The pack should remain in place between an hour to an hour and a half.

The skin can be cleansed afterwards, if desired, by using water which is prepared as follows: to a squart of water, add two teaspoons of baking soda. Use this to cleanse the abdomen. Keep the flannel pack wrapped in plastic for future use. It need not be discarded after one application, but can usually be used many times.

Note: Always use a high-quality, cold-pressed castor oil, available in health food stores.

CASTOR OIL: MODERN USES FOR AN OLD FOLK REMEDY

CASTOR OIL: MODERN USES FOR AN OLD FOLK REMEDY
credit to:
"by Simone Gabbay."

My first encounter with the amazing healing powers of castor oil took place during a business trip to Amsterdam, Holland, nearly 20 years ago. As I got off the plane from Toronto, I felt a sharp pain in my lower back, radiating down into my leg. Whether it was triggered by the long hours of sitting crunched up in an uncomfortable airplane seat or by the heavy suitcase I was carrying, I'll never know. By the time I got to my hotel room, I was in agony, barely able to stand up straight. Even lying down on the bed was painful.

What was I to do? I didn't know anyone in the city, and I was scheduled to attend some important meetings the following day. The staff at the hotel reception desk couldn't tell me how to locate a chiropractor. I wasn't interested in going to a doctor for a prescription painkiller or muscle-relaxant. I remembered that "Sleeping Prophet" Edgar Cayce had often suggested castor oil packs for various aches and pains, and I remembered having read of this remedy's effectiveness in cases of sciatica.

I managed to take a cab to a nearby drugstore, where I purchased a bottle of castor oil. No doubt the pharmacist thought that I was bent over because of constipation!

Back at the hotel, I soaked a towel in the oil and wrapped it around my lower back. In a proper castor oil pack, a cloth of wool or cotton flannel is folded in several layers, then saturated with warm castor oil, and placed on the affected area. But I had to make do with a hotel towel and room-temperature oil. I also didn't have access to a heating pad or hot water bottle to add the prescribed warmth to the pack. The idea is that heat allows the oil to penetrate the skin and work its way deep into the tissues. I figured that the heat generated by my body would have to do. Finally, I cut open some plastic bags and spread them on the bed before lying down, to avoid getting oil on the sheets.

Tired from the overnight flight, and exhausted from the pain, I drifted off into a deep sleep. When I woke up a few hours later, I was drowsy with jet-lag, but the pain was gone! It had completely disappeared, and I was able to sit, stand, and walk normally. An impressive result for a clumsy first attempt with makeshift tools!

Since that time, I have witnessed the powerful healing force contained in castor oil on numerous occasions. My family and I have successfully used castor oil packs and rubs for various kinds of abdominal complaints, headaches, inflammatory conditions, muscle pains, skin eruptions and lesions. Castor oil is a staple item in our medicine cabinet at home, and whenever we travel, we pack a small bottle of castor oil.

Many people faced with the problem of wrinkles join the search for the best wrinkle treatment each day. Growing numbers ofhealth and beauty conscious men and women are looking for the right treatment to help reduce and remove their wrinkles that are brought on by aging, stress and dry skin. They often have a hard time choosing from the many hundreds of available treatments for wrinkles, from creams to oils to injections.

Of the many anti-wrinkle treatments that are available commercially, many are formulated using a combination of natural ingredients and synthetic substances. These treatments are often viewed as being unnatural as they contain artificial ingredients and some people are unwilling to use such treatments. They prefer to use natural treatments instead. One of these natural treatments that is worth considering is the use of castor oil as an anti-wrinkle treatment.

Castor oil, which is produced from the seed of the castor plant, is usually taken as a health supplement. However, many people do not realize that it can be an effective form of wrinkle treatment as well. By simply applying castor oil to your skin, you help to soothe your skin, restoring its natural youthful appearance and helping to diminish unsightly wrinkles.

One of the properties of castor oil that makes it an effective form of anti-wrinkle treatment is that it is very effective at moisturizing your skin. Castor oil has many antioxidant properties and helps defend your skin against oxidizing agents. It also cleanses and heals your skin even as it hydrates your skin. Also, castor oil does not leave an oily feeling on your skin after you use it. Simply wash it off with some warm water or even some gentle facial cleanser and it will leave your skin feeling smooth and supple. People with dry skin will benefit greatly from the application of castor oil to areas of the skin affected by wrinkles.

Castor oil also helps increase the flow of blood to the skin that it is applied to. Increased blood flow means that the skin receives more nutrients and oxygen, making skin healthier and fuller, helping to erase wrinkles and fine lines. Even heavy wrinkles respond well to the increased circulation of blood and lessen or fade.

Many people who use castor oil on their skin on a regular basis report that the treatment leaves them feeling younger and their skin looking healthier. Castor oil also has a positive effect on wrinkles and fine lines, reducing the severity of wrinkling and also giving skin a natural healthy glow. While it must be said that no treatment available today can completely eliminate wrinkles, regular treatment with castor oil will help to keep wrinkles at bay, and to help reduce the formation of wrinkles, keeping you looking younger, longer.

WHAT IS COLD PRESSED CASTOR OIL??

WHAT IS COLD PRESSED??
Cold pressed oil may be healthier than conventionally made oil because of the lack of heat and chemicals in the production process. In conventional extraction, raw materials are heated to very high temperatures, sometimes up to 450°F (around 230°C), which changes their chemical structure. They are also often made with chemicals like hexane, a solvent which can cause health problems.

Castor Oil for cyst

Credits to : ms promenade, acne.org community

There is no lump, the skin is soft and less discolored, and I can't see any white stuff below when I press down on the skin.Apparently castor oil has lots of healing properties and is very good for the skin.

But as I said, I bottle of the stuff at Whole Foods for 9 bucks is a lot cheaper than $400 + to get it surgically removed. Best of luck to you all!
